1. Who we are
Sri Lanka Unfolded ("we", "us") is an independent, non-commercial travel-information website about Sri Lanka, operated from Sri Lanka. We are not a travel agency, tour operator, or booking service, and we sell nothing on this site.
2. What the site provides
The site provides editorial travel information: destination guides, cultural context, and an illustrative trip planner. "Illustrative" means the planner's suggestions are starting points for your own research — they are not live, verified statements about transport, weather, opening hours, ticketing, safety, or access.
3. Your responsibility when travelling
Travel conditions change. Before relying on anything here, verify current information against official sources: transport operators, site authorities, your government's travel advice, and local guidance. You remain responsible for your own decisions, safety, insurance, visas, and conduct — including behaving respectfully at temples, archaeological sites, and protected natural areas.
4. Accuracy and corrections
We work to keep content accurate and label first-hand experience, sourced facts, and legend or folklore separately. Even so, content may contain errors or become outdated. We welcome corrections at hello@srilankaunfolded.com and fix verified mistakes.
5. No warranties; limitation of liability
The site and its content are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the site or reliance on its content — including travel disruption, injury, expense, or disappointment. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
6. Intellectual property
Original text, the "living lines" ornament system, and page compositions are © Sri Lanka Unfolded. Photographs by external creators are used under their respective licences and credited on the credits page; their rights remain with their creators. You may quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link. Do not republish substantial portions of the site, or use its content to present someone else's first-hand experience as your own.
7. Links to other sites
External links (sources, photographer pages, official bodies) are provided in good faith. We do not control and are not responsible for the content of external sites.
8. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the site, probe or attack its infrastructure, or scrape it at abusive volumes. Reasonable automated access (search indexing, archiving) is fine.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site evolves. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version. Meaningful changes will be visible on this page; continued use after a change means acceptance of the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
