1. What we do not collect

The site has no user accounts, no sign-up forms, no comment system, and no newsletter. We do not use cookies. We do not collect names, email addresses, payment details, or precise location. Nothing you do here is linked to your identity by us.

2. Anonymous visit statistics

We run a self-hosted instance of Umami, an open-source, cookieless analytics tool, on our own server (analytics.srilankaunfolded.com). It records anonymous, aggregate events: which pages are viewed, referrer domain, browser type, device class, and country-level region. It does not use cookies, does not store your IP address in visit records, and cannot follow you to other websites. No analytics data leaves our server or is shared with any third party.

3. Trip planner and preferences

The trip planner runs entirely in your browser. Choices you make (interests, month, duration) are used on the page to shape suggestions and are not transmitted to us or stored by us as personal data.

4. Server logs

Like almost every website, our web server keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, requested page, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. These are routinely rotated, are not used for profiling, and are not combined with analytics.

5. Email you send us

If you email hello@srilankaunfolded.com, we receive your address and message. We use them only to reply, keep them only as long as the correspondence is useful, and never add you to any list.

6. Third parties

Site pages, fonts, images, and analytics are all served from our own infrastructure — no third-party CDNs, ad networks, or embedded social widgets. External links (photographer credit pages, official sources) lead to sites with their own privacy practices.

7. Your rights

Under privacy laws such as the EU GDPR and Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act (No. 9 of 2021), you have rights over personal data — access, correction, and deletion among them. Because we hold essentially no personal data about visitors, in most cases there is nothing to retrieve or delete; the practical exception is email correspondence, which we will delete on request.

8. Children

The site is a general-audience information resource and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

9. Changes to this policy

If our practices ever change — for example, if we add a newsletter — this page will be updated first, with the "last updated" date revised. We will never quietly weaken this policy.
